There is something very therapeutic about being creative, about creating projects purely for the joy of the activity rather than the end result. Crafting sessions are always fun, always messy, and always accompanied by tea and cake. Overstone House makes a great venue for a session of painting, collaging, or drawing, the rooms are light and bright and homely, the perfect setting.
This week we tried our hand at some painting, letting our imaginations run wild. We mixed colours and attempted a variety of techniques, some more successfully than others. We were actually really quite impressed with our creations, for many of us it has been a long, long time since we have put brush to paper, and we surprised ourselves with our results. We also got to work sculpting birds from clay, inspired by the birds that visit our garden.
One thing we have a lot of here at Overstone is free time and it is wonderful to be able to fill it with creative pursuits, whether it’s knitting in the lounge, or still drawing in the garden, it is a nice way to relax and to connect with each other.
